Step 1: Download the open-source youtube-dl from here --> https://youtube-dl.org/downloads/latest/youtube-dl.exe

Step 2: Put the youtube-dl.exe into it's own a folder.

It should be in your Downloads folder, but it's best to move it to it's own folder.

Step 3: Copy the URL link to the YouTube video you want to download from the address bar in your web browser.

The link should look like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cp1Jn4Q0j6E

Let's breakdown the URL link:

https:// = HTTPS protocol

www.youtube.com = the website address

/watch?v=Cp1Jn4Q0j6E = this is the YouTube video identifier which will only have 11 letters and numbers after the v= part.

If the link looks like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cp1Jn4Q0j6E&feature=youtu.be&t=125

or has any & characters after the video identifier your video may not download correctly.

Remove the & and anything after it.

Step 4: Run the youtube-dl.exe from a Command Prompt and paste the URL at the end.

Step 4 a: In Windows Explorer go to the folder where you put youtube-dl.exe

Step 4 b: In the address-bar type in CMD and hit <Enter>

This will open a new Command Prompt window.

Step 4 c: Type in youtube-dl.exe <Space-Bar> then right-click the mouse anywhere in the Command Prompt window to Paste the link and hit <Enter>

It should look like this

Once it's done downloading it should look like this

Your video file will be in the folder.

You can now close the Command Prompt or run the youtube-dl.exe command again with another video link.
